Dr. Vladimir S. Ban: CEO of PD-LD, Inc.

Dr. Ban received his BS degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia; He received his PhD in Solid State Science from Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Ban later joined RCA Laboratories as a Member of the Technical Staff. Dr. Ban also spent 10 months as a visiting scientist at the Imperial College in London. Upon returning to RCA Laboratories, Dr. Ban was promoted to Research Leader. He then became the Group Head, for Videodisc materials and Diagnostics. In 1984, Dr. Ban co founded EPITAXX, Inc. He was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer until starting PD-LD, Inc in 1993.

Mr. Abrams earned his BS degree in Engineering from Drexel University along with his MS in Engineering and MS in Operations-Financial Management. He has a proven track record with over 20 years of financial, managerial and operational leadership, in privately held companies. During his career, Mr. Abrams held numerous Operations and Manufacturing Management positions with Trane Inc. and Heraeus Electro-Nite, Inc. Since joining PD-LD in 1997, he has served as Director of Operations, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the company, prior to being appointed President on January 3, 2011. His career includes multiple experiences in the areas of general management, strategic planning, technology transfer, high volume manufacturing, financial management, risk management and IP portfolio management.

Mr. Struthers began his career in the photonics industry with EG&G Inc. in 1978 and led sales organizations for 11 divisions of the company for over 18 years. He received his Electronics Engineering education from Ohio Institute of Technology in 1974. In 1997, he joined Sensors Unlimited, Inc. and established a Sales and Marketing team leading the company to global leadership position in short-wave infrared spectroscopy and imaging markets. As a Vice President of Sensors Unlimited, Mr. Struthers helped guide the company through two acquisitions, ultimately becoming part of Goodrich Corporation in 2005. He joined PD-LD as Executive VP of Business Development in 2012.

Mr. DeBerardine received his BS in Industrial Engineering in 1983 and his MBA in 1989 from Rutgers University. In 1983, he began his career at Interactive Radiation Inc. as an Application Engineer with responsibility for non-linear crystals and passive optical elements. In 1984, he joined General Optronics as a Sales Engineer responsible for fiber optic laser diodes and receivers. Mr. DeBerardine later joined AMP Incorporated in 1986 as a Product Line Manager responsible for Active Fiber Optic components and transceiver modules. In 1999, he joined PD-LD as the Director of Sales.

Dr. Volodin received his BS in Mathematical Physics in 1987 and his MS in Applied Physics in 1989 from Moscow State University. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ in 1996. Dr. Volodin joined the Center for Nonlinear Optics at Moscow State University in 1987 as a Research Assistant. In 1991, he joined the Optical Sciences Center at the University of Arizona as a Teaching Assistant. In 1993, he was promoted to Graduate Research Associate. Later in 1996, he became an Assistant Research Scientist. In 1997, Dr. Volodin joined Accuwave Corporation where he was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff and later in 1998 was promoted to the position of Director of Holography and Product Development. In 1998, he joined Sigma Research and Engineering Corporation as a Chief Engineer and in 2000, Dr. Volodin joined PD-LD, Inc as the Director of Research and Development.
