Dr. Morton
Collins, Chairman
MORTON COLLINS, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the University of Delaware and his Master of Arts and Doctorate Degrees in Engineering from Princeton University. During the period from April 1966 to July 1968, he was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Scientific Research of Princeton, Inc., an information technology related service Company. From October 1968, to June 1974, he was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Data Science Ventures, Inc. (DSV I). He was a Founder of DSV Associates (DSV II); DSV Partners III (DSV III); DSV Partners IV (DSV IV) and has been the Managing Partner of each since their formation in 1974, 1981 and 1985 respectively. These organizations provide venture capital and management assistance to early-stage high-technology companies. In July of 1997 Mr. Collins became a Special Limited Partner of Cardinal Partners, the successor to the DSV series of partnerships. In August of 2003 Mr. Collins became a General Partner of Battelle Ventures which he founded. Battelle Ventures is an early-stage high-technology venture firm focused on technologies developed at Battelle Memorial Institute and the eight National Laboratories managed by Battelle for the Department of Energy.
Mr. Collins serves as a Director of Inovio Biomedical Corporation (AMEX); Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ); Pharos LLC; PD-LD Inc.(Chairman); CDI Bioscience, Inc.(Chairman) and Hepregen Corporation (Chairman). Mr. Collins is Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Delaware; a member of the Graduate School Advisory Council at Princeton University; a member of the Leadership Council of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Princeton University and a member of the Systems Biology Advisory Council at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, N.J.
Mr. Collins served on the New Jersey Governor's Commission on Science and Technology; the New Jersey Governor’s Superconductivity Roundtable and is a Member of the Research Roundtable of the National Academy of Sciences. He chaired President Reagan’s Task Force on Innovation and Entrepreneurship and served as a technology policy advisor to President George H. W. Bush. He is a former President, Director and Chairman of the National Venture Capital Association. Mr. Collins was the recipient of the 1989 University of Delaware Medal of Distinction; the recipient of the 1990 New York Venture Forum Award and he received the Delaware Valley Venture Group Award in 1992.
Dr. Stephen
R. Forrest
Dr. Forrest has served as one of our Directors since 1995. Dr.
Forrest has been a professor of electrical engineering at Princeton
University since 1992 and has served as Chairman of Princeton's
Department of Electrical Engineering from 1997 to 2001. From 1992
to 1997, Dr. Forrest served as the Director of the Center for
Photonics and Optoelectronic Materials at Princeton University,
and from 1989 to 1992, he served as the Director of the National
Center for Integrated Photonic Technology. From 1985 to 1992,
Dr. Forrest was professor of electrical engineering at the University
of Southern California. Dr. Forrest is the author of approximately
300 papers published in professional journals and holds approximately
70 patents in the areas of organic thin film materials and devices
and semiconductor photonic materials and devices. Dr. Forrest
received his Masters and Doctoral degrees in physics from the
University of Michigan.
Mr. David
Rynne
Mr. Rynne has served as one of our Directors since 2001. Mr. Rynne
began his business career in 1964 as a financial analyst for Burroughs
Corporation. In 1977, Mr. Rynne was appointed CFO of Burroughs
International Group. In 1983, Mr. Rynne became the CFO for Tandem
Computers. Mr. Rynne joined Bay Networks as Executive VP and CFO
in 1997. He then led the strategy, transaction, and integration
activity successfully merging Bay Networks into Nortel Networks.
Mr. Rynne received his BS and MBA from the University of Buffalo.
Mr. Tom
Unterberg
Mr. Unterberg formed C.E. Unterberg, Towbin in 1990. From 1987
to 1990, Mr. Unterberg was Head of Technology Banking and a Partner
of Lehman Brothers. From 1977 through 1986, Mr. Unterberg was
a General Partner/Managing Director and Chairman of L.F. Rothschild,
Unterberg, Towbin Holding, Inc. From 1960 through 1977, he was
a partner in C. E. Unterberg, Towbin. He has been in investment
banking since 1956. He currently serves on the Board of the AES
Corporation Club One, Electronics fro Imaging, Inc and Systems
and Computer Technology Inc. Mr. Unterberg is a graduate of Princeton
University and received his MBA from Wharton School of Business.
